Welcome to the Rio Grande Worker online newspaper and magazine. As our masthead reads, we are a news and educational outlet based in the Rio Grande Valley of deep south Texas and northern Tamaulipas, Mexico, published in the interests of working people worldwide. We are an internationalist collective of working-class and student writers, artists and activists. Our perspectives are informed by Marxism and the belief that working people of all nationalities regardless of immigration status—including farmworkers, small farmers and small businesses—can lead peaceful popular and democratic revolutions to overthrow the current system of exploitation that is capitalist rule in every country of North America, to then join the global struggle for socialism, human history and society’s next stage.
We politically oppose both major capitalist parties and reformist ‘third parties’ in the United States and express our solidarity and support for the U.S. Socialist Workers Party and its affiliate Communist Leagues worldwide. We oppose all forms of racism, particularly antisemitism, as mortal dangers and obstacles to proletarian solidarity.
The Rio Grande Worker was founded in January 2025 by writer and musician, Jonathan Salinas, who publishes Uncancellable at jonathansalinas.substack.com

RGW is also the official news outlet of the Rio Grande Valley Workers Party.
